“Undercurrents of possibilities”, is made out of fabric, paint, embroidery and fabric appliqués, sequences and lace. It measures 144’’ x 108’’. The piece is divided visually in two, it is symmetric, a mirror. The appliqués are placed over an ink bloat as in the Rorschach test images. The concept behind this piece is the individual interpretation of human experiences, through the connection with the other. The concepts of nature, duality, unfolding, integration, connection with the other side, multi dimension, completion, understanding, wholeness, tree of life come to mind. There are abstract and figurative elements in this piece, this is a representation of how we view our surroundings, our world. The embroidered animals represent our connection with nature and the representation of human social and psychological traits. Color, texture and fabric patterns enrich the sensory interpretation of what you see, it is a celebration of human individuality and creativity in the sense that we all have the ability to see things differently and resolve or create an individual path in life. In this piece, as in most of my work I work deconstructing and constructing, redefining meaning and purpose, ordering and reordering significations using textiles. Also, the idea of sewing and embroidering mark the human intervention and action, a “feminine” touch, a “soft” interpretation. This is important in my work. We all have a feminine side that has been neglected this is why our world is so unbalanced, this is my way of connecting with it and have the spectator connect with her/his.
